Another beautiful song

5 Oct

I can imagine faithful believers singing this psalm.  It is a wonderful praise hymn about God’s sovereignty.

“God claims Earth and everything in it,
God claims World and all who live on it.
He built it on Ocean foundations,
laid it out on River girders.”

The question asked is as to who can dwell with God.

“Who can climb Mount God?
Who can scale the holy north-face?
Only the clean-handed,
only the pure-hearted;
Men who won’t cheat,
women who won’t seduce.”

It think the real question of the psalm, is will you be able to climb?  And, as always, God is there to help those who will climb.

 “God is at their side;
with God’s help they make it.
This, Jacob, is what happens
to God-seekers, God-questers.”

And of course those who  climb God’s Mountain will sing praise to God.

“Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

10 Who is this King-Glory?
he is King-Glory.”

So, as God-seekers and God-questers how do we climb?  I have been thinking about my faith life and how to continue to grow in faith.  In meditation time, my brain landed on the fruits of the spirit.  “. . the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”  Galatians 5:22-23    I figure it is a good place to start working; I’m thinking self-control sounds like a good challenge.  Who’s with me?
