Eugene Peterson does an interesting job on the paraphase of Psalm 4.  This psalm has the faithful person calling out to God in the midst of unfaithful people.  As the faithful person calls for the others to place their lives before God and wait for the verdict, they say, “Why is everyone hungry for more? ‘More, more,’ they say, ‘More, more.’  I have God’s more-than-enough, More joy in one ordinary day than they get in all their shopping spree.  At day’s end I’m ready for sound sleep.  For you, God, have put my life back together.”

I wonder about your life, is there a sense that you need to buy something if you have not gotten anything new in awhile. Our shopping seasons of “Back to School”. “Holloween”. “Thanksgiving”, and the high holy day of consuming, “Black Friday” push us to buy something, anything, ,  and it’s good for the economy, right?.  When is it enough and we stop say, “More, more”?   As always, I think it is about talking with God and asking God to help us with the priorities in our life; about what we need, and DON’T need.

The photo was taken on Rodeo Dr. in L.A.  I understand it is superduper car that cost many, many $$$.  Why is it so easy for these thing to posess us.  Because, if it is not this car, there is probably something else that threatens to own us.

Blessings and prayers for sound sleep, for you, God, have put my life back together.
